Bricks have begun to be laid on the grounds of a former restaurant and banqueting suite in Hornchurch.

New progress has been seen at the development site once occupied by The Cranleigh in Station Lane.

The most recent update follows the demolition of the old Edwardian period property last month.

The Cranleigh closed down on January 1, marking almost 40 years of business as former owner Christine McKenzie announced her retirement.

Haverbridge Homes Ltd has taken over the site, after obtaining planning permission from Havering Council to replace the restaurant with nine apartments.

Pictures have now captured the development starting to take shape, with bricks having been laid to above head height in some areas.

Stacks of red brick has also been spotted surrounded by left over rubble and what appears to be cuttings of insulation board.
