Greta Thunberg and two other activists have been arrested after a protest in support of Palestine Action prisoners in London.
Climate activist Greta Thunberg, 22, was arrested in Fenchurch Street on Tuesday morning (December 23), the Prisoners for Palestine protest group has said.
Ms Thunberg was part of a demonstration by the group - which supports Palestine Action protesters on hunger strike in prison - outside the central London offices of Aspen Insurance.
In a video shared by Prisoners for Palestine on social media, the 22-year-old can be seen holding a sign reading "I support the Palestine Action prisoners. I oppose genocide".
Earlier in the morning, at around 7am, hammers and red paint were also used to damage the Aspen Insurance offices.
The City of London Police has since confirmed that a 22-year-old, alongside two other people, were arrested after the protest.
A spokesperson for the City of London Police said: "At around 7am this morning hammers and red paint were used to damage a building on Fenchurch Street.
"A 24-year-old man and a 38 year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
"They glued themselves nearby and specialist officers released them, and brought them into police custody.
"A little while later, a 22-year-old woman also attended the scene.
"She has been arrested for displaying an item (in this case a placard) in support of a proscribed organisation (in this case Palestine Action) contrary to Section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000."
The demonstration comes after several imprisoned Palestine Action activists, including one who has refused to eat for 52 days, have been taken to hospital in recent days.
Their hunger strike began on November 2, with seven prisoners taken to hospital in total.
According to PA, a legal firm representing the hunger strikers sent a pre-action letter on Monday (December 22) against the Justice Secretary David Lammy, outlining the group’s intention to initiate legal action.
