London's iconic open-air theatre has revealed a brand new summer programme.
Shakespeare’s Globe has announced its 2026 summer season, beginning on April 23.
The first production of the season is Emily Lim’s take on A Midsummer Night’s Dream, running until August 29.
A fresh addition to the Globe stage arrives on May 7 with Bertolt Brecht’s anti-war classic Mother Courage and Her Children.
Directed by Elle While, the production will star Globe artistic director Michelle Terry in the title role and runs until June 27.
The season continues with the ultimate Shakespearean romcom, Much Ado About Nothing, directed by Chelsea Walker and running from June 11 to October 24.
Following this, theatre-goers will be treated to a rare performance of Love’s Labour’s Lost from July 17 to September 13.
Directed by Indiana Lown-Collins, the production is expected to feature flamenco-inspired movement, with the entire cast reportedly attending "flamenco bootcamp."
The season concludes with As You Like It, co-directed by Sean Holmes and Charlie Josephine, which runs from August 14 to October 25.
Ms Josephine, who has previously written shows for the Globe, will take on the role of Orlando—her first time performing at the theatre.
The Sam Wanamaker Playhouse will once again host a family-friendly show during the summer.
This year, it will premiere A World Elsewhere, a new play by Kerry Frampton and Ben Hales.
The story follows Cass, a boy whose love of Shakespeare—instilled by his grandfather—begins to wane.
As in previous years, the Globe will offer its signature £5 standing tickets for each performance.
There will also be a single midnight performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, and As You Like It.
Ms Lim’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream promises to contrast with the current, darker indoor version at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, offering instead an "uplifting and communal" experience rooted in her background in large-scale community theatre.
Brecht’s Mother Courage marks the playwright’s debut at the venue.
Ms Walker returns after her interpretation of All’s Well That Ends Well, this time directing Much Ado About Nothing.
Tickets for the Shakespeare’s Globe 2026 summer season go on general sale on February 10 at 10am.
