A man has been charged after a burglary in northwest London allegedly ended up in a police chase speeding down the wrong way of the motorway.
Police were called to reports of a burglary around the HA8 area – covering Edgware, Burnt Oak, Cannons Park, Queensbury and Colindale – on Tuesday (February 10) at around 3.20am.
At the scene officers noticed a vehicle leaving the area which did not stop, resulting in a high-speed pursuit.
The suspect vehicle reportedly made its way onto the A406 where it travelled over 110mph in order to escape officers, the Metropolitan Police said.
According to the force, the car stopped and a dog unit was deployed to track the driver who allegedly made off on foot.
A man was found and arrested.
Jay Hunt, 21, has been charged with residential burglary and theft of a motor vehicle and was remanded to appear at court.
Inspector Tom Hinson, from the Barnet Community Policing Team, said: "I'm grateful to the officers involved for their professionalism and tenacity in making the arrest.
“The original call was from a concerned member of the public who saw something they didn't think was right and alerted police, and I would always encourage people to report suspicious activity to us."
