A Kingston coffee shop is blowing up on TikTok thanks to its dessert-style lattes and hyper-colour matcha drinks.

Zega, located at 29 Market Place, has quickly become one of the most talked-about cafes in south-west London.

Locals describe it as "a charming, aesthetically pleasing coffee shop nestled in Kingston market place."

It stands out from the usual third-wave espresso bars by treating coffee as an "occasion," complete with syrup-rimmed glasses, generous toppings, and lattes that resemble birthday cakes.

@londoncoffeeshops New Cafe 🚨 - Kingston’s hidden gem for latte lovers + sweet tooths ✨ At Zega Café, every drink feels like a little celebration: 🎂 Birthday Latte – coffee or matcha (and yes, it’s FREE on your birthday! 🥳). 🍰 Tiramisu Latte – classic or matcha tiramisu. 🍏❤️ Apple crumble Latte – fruity and refreshing. 🎃 Pumpkin Spice Latte – cosy and comforting. …plus so many more handcrafted flavours like pistachio and apple crumble. And it’s not just the lattes that shine — the bakery is all made in-house, with buns that are next-level delicious. Think pistachio, lotus, tiramisu, apple crumble … all soft, sweet, and freshly baked. 🍞✨ Between the dreamy drinks and the gorgeous bakes, Zega Café is the kind of spot you’ll want to keep secret — but it’s too good not to share. 💚 📍 A must-visit in the heart of Kingston. #KingstonEats #LatteLovers #SweetToothGoals #HiddenGemCafe #ZegaCafe ♬ カフェでボサノバを聴く休日 - ya-su

On TikTok, content creators have dubbed Zega as "Kingston’s hidden gem for latte lovers + sweet tooths."

The cafe’s official TikTok account, @zegacoffee, features close-up shots of limited-edition lattes like the choc-chip cookie flavour, topped with biscuit crumbs and whipped cream.

Zega’s reputation is built as much on matcha as it is on coffee.

The iced mango matcha latte has been described as "fantastic" in reviews and a must-order for first-timers.

Seasonal drinks such as pumpkin-spice matcha and cinnamon-roll-inspired matcha are promoted through Zega’s TikTok channel, often turning each new flavour into a mini campaign.

Their short, punchy videos feature slow-motion pours, whipped foams, close-ups of iced lattes being topped with sprinkles and crumbs.

Hashtags like "best coffee shops in London," "coffee date ideas," and "Zega Coffee Kingston" help cement the cafe’s place in the capital’s viral coffee shop scene.

However, it’s not just coffee content creators who have jumped on board.

Fitness and lifestyle influencers have started showcasing Zega drinks as post-workout treats and "little rewards."

In the comment sections, users often tag friends with messages such as "our next coffee date," and argue over which matcha flavour to try first.

One customer said: "Often with my son."

Another said: "Cozy atmosphere complete with a reading corner."

Visitors frequently mention the "friendly staff," and the atmosphere described in TikTok clips shows a space filled with cosy seating and books.

Unlike some viral spots that focus on style over substance, Zega consistently receives praise for its "great matcha," "quality coffee," and "delicious homemade pastries and sandwiches."

Sea-salt chocolate buns and pistachio-topped cakes are a regular feature in customer videos, often filmed as pastries are handed across the counter.

For a town centre often criticised for being heavy on chains, Zega is seen as a refreshing, independent alternative.

Some have called it "a great new addition to Kingston town centre."

The cafe has earned a 4.7-star rating on at least one specialist coffee guide, and its growing TikTok presence is helping it reach a wider audience.

Open daily from 7am to 6pm, Zega aims to be an all-day destination, whether for a morning coffee, afternoon matcha, or early evening catch-up.

Judging by the buzz, the formula is working.

The only question now is whether Kingston can continue calling Zega a "hidden gem" as it quickly becomes a must-visit spot for coffee lovers across London.
