A Dagenham man has been fined for fly-tipping on a public highway.
Gheorghe Stoica, of Eliot Road, was ordered to pay £927.25 after being caught dumping a mattress on Gale Street.
The offence took place on May 20, 2023, when CCTV footage recorded the driver of a Fiat 500 depositing the mattress on the roadway.
Mr Stoica was issued a £400 fixed penalty notice, which went unpaid, leading the case to be referred to Barkingside Magistrates’ Court.
He failed to attend the original hearing in June 2024, resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest.
Following time in custody, Mr Stoica appeared in court on March 24, 2026, where he pleaded guilty.

He was fined £300 and ordered to pay £507.25 in prosecution costs and a £120 victim surcharge.
A collection order requires him to pay £70 per month, starting Tuesday, April 21.
Keith Stanger, director for enforcement, regulatory services and community safety, said: "Fly-tipping is a selfish and illegal act that blights our neighbourhoods and wastes public money.
"Thanks to CCTV evidence and the persistence of our officers, this offender has been held accountable.
"We hope this sends a strong message that those who dump rubbish in our borough will be tracked down and face the consequences."
