Heathrow- Delays and cancellations on the Elizabeth line

The train came to a halt between London Paddington and Heathrow/Reading at 12.30pm on Friday, April 10 April, leading to cancellations, delays of up to 60 minutes and significant changes to services.

The disruption is expected to continue until 3pm.

Services affected include the Elizabeth line between Shenfield and Heathrow Terminal 5, Abbey Wood and Heathrow Terminal 4, Maidenhead and Reading.

Great Western Railway and Heathrow Express services to and from London Paddington are also impacted.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: "A broken down freight train between London Paddington and Heathrow / Reading means some lines are blocked. As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised."

Elizabeth line passengers are being advised to use London Underground services and London Buses between Paddington and Hayes & Harlington at no extra cost.

Passengers travelling to West Ealing should alight at Ealing Broadway and take the E7 or E11 bus, while those heading to Hanwell are advised to take the E8 bus.

Travellers to Southall should alight at Hayes & Harlington and take the SL8 bus.

Great Western Railway ticket holders can use Chiltern Railways services between Oxford and London Marylebone, Elizabeth line trains via any reasonable route, and London Buses between Paddington and Greenford.

Cancelled train passengers can travel on either of the two services before or after their original train without penalty.

Those affected are also reminded to check the latest updates before travelling using the National Rail Enquiries journey planner.

Compensation may be available for delayed journeys.

Passengers are advised to keep their tickets and note details of their journey to support any claims for compensation.
