A man has won a £73,000 Range Rover—after entering a competition for just 21p.
Michael Buxton, a 48-year-old bathroom fitter from Wandsworth, was surprised with the news at home by BOTB presenter Christian Williams after winning the Range Rover Sport D350.
Mr Buxton said: "I’m in complete shock.
"I’ll probably wake up in a minute.
"I can’t believe this has happened to me, and I’m so happy."
As a BOTB Pass member, Mr Buxton didn’t even realise what he had won, as he is automatically entered into some of its competitions.
He was asked to follow Mr Williams down the road, where the luxury SUV was waiting.
Mr Buxton said: "It looks amazing.
"I had an older model when I was younger.
"We do a lot of camping, so it will be ideal to get all the luggage in as well as the dog.
"I’m never going to get another chance to have a car like this."
The Range Rover Sport D350 is a high-end SUV with a 350-horsepower diesel engine, premium interior, and advanced technology.
Mr Williams said: "It’s such a fantastic car, and watching Michael’s reaction was priceless.
"He was shaking, and the joy on his face said it all.
"Moments like this are why we do what we do at BOTB."
BOTB hands over the keys to a dream car each week, while also offering players the option of a cash alternative and a range of lifestyle prizes.
Founded in 1999, BOTB has given away prizes to over 538,000 people, including £150m-worth of cars so far.
Mr Buxton, a regular BOTB player, said: "I’ve played for so long because there’s always a chance, but I was never confident of winning.
"My dad, who is 80 and lives with us, couldn’t believe it and thought I’d made a mistake.
"My seven-year-old son absolutely loves the car."
