A man has died on a popular open space following welfare concerns.
The Metropolitan Police was called with reports of a concern for welfare for a person on Wanstead Flats near Forest Drive, Manor Park, at around 6.50pm last night (April 16).
Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service, locating a man in his 50s.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, with the death being treated as unexpected but not suspicious.
His next of kin have been informed.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 6.55pm on 16 April to reports of an incident at the junction of Capel Road and Forest Drive, E12.
“We sent resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, paramedics in fast response cars, an incident response officer and a clinical team, manager.
“Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”
