A protest and counter-protest in north London saw 14 people arrested as police estimate 1,000 people gathered in total.
The gatherings happened near Edgware United Synagogue in Edgeware today (March 14).
Edgeware Way was temporarily closed by police but was later reopened.
A pro-Palestine protest was met by a crowd from Stop The Hate, according to the Metropolitan Police.
A policing plan had been put in place for the event, according to the Met Police's X account but extra officers were brought in to support.
Police estimated there were around 1,000 protesters in the area.
A total of 14 people were arrested.
Five for violent disorder (one person was also arrested for assault on an emergency worker).
Six for Section 4a Public Order Act offences (four of those for racial/religiously aggravated matters).
One for Section 18 Public Order Act offences.
One for assault on an emergency worker and one for common assault.
Those arrested have been taken into custody.
In a statement posted on the police force's X account around 12.30pm today, commander Adam Slonecki said: “We have liaised with the venue and the Community Security Trust and have deployed officers to prevent serious disruption and to deal with any offences, using the full range of powers available to us including imposing conditions under the Public Order Act.
“We are mindful that Jewish communities are experiencing heightened fear and concern following two-and-a-half years of sustained protest and, in recent months, a series of arsons and other attacks.
“There is a distinction between protesting in central London and protesting in the heart of communities where the potential to cause serious disruption and intimidation is greater and our policing plan reflects that."
At around 4.30pm, the police force's X account posted: "Protesters have now dispersed from the area.
"Our officers remain to carry out reassurance patrols."
