Londoners are facing an intense week of heat, with temperatures forecast to climb close to 39C and remain above 35C for several days as amber heat warnings cover the capital.
The Met Office has issued amber extreme heat warnings covering the capital, while health officials have urged people to take precautions as overnight temperatures are also expected to remain unusually high.
Monday, June 22
The week begins with sunny conditions across London.
Temperatures are expected to reach around 32C during the afternoon under clear skies.
The evening will remain very warm, with temperatures slowly falling after sunset.
Tuesday, June 23
London will see sunshine and rapidly rising temperatures throughout the day.
After a warm start, highs are expected to reach around 37C during the afternoon, with virtually no chance of rain.
Evening temperatures will remain above 30C before falling to around 24C overnight.
Wednesday, June 24
The hottest day of the week is forecast for Wednesday.
Temperatures could reach 39C in central London, putting the capital close to breaking long-standing June records.

Sunshine is expected throughout the day with very light winds.
Overnight temperatures are forecast to stay around 23C.
Thursday, June 25
Little relief is expected as the heatwave continues.
London is forecast to reach 38C, with sunny skies and dry conditions persisting.

The Met Office amber heat warning remains in place, and residents are being advised to avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.
Friday, June 26
Temperatures will begin to ease, although it will still feel very hot by British standards.
Highs of around 29C are expected with a mix of sunshine and some cloud.
Humidity levels will remain elevated, and there is a slightly increased chance of isolated showers later in the day.
Saturday, June 27
A noticeably cooler day compared with earlier in the week, but still warm and pleasant.
Temperatures are forecast to peak around 27C under sunny spells and light winds.
Any shower risk is expected to be low.
Sunday, June 28
The weekend will end on a settled note with highs of around 26C.
Conditions should remain largely dry with sunshine and some scattered cloud, making for a much more comfortable end to the heatwave.
Heatwave safety advice
The UK Health Security Agency has warned that the extreme heat could have significant impacts on health services and vulnerable people, particularly older adults and those with existing medical conditions.
People are being advised to drink plenty of water, stay out of the sun during the hottest hours of the day, and check on elderly relatives and neighbours.
Forecasters say the heat should begin easing from Friday onwards, although temperatures are expected to remain above average across London into next week.
