A man has been convicted of murder after shooting dead a 15-year-old boy at a west London music festival, later rapping about the firearm malfunction in a video.

Aderahman Boumzough, 25, of no fixed address, was found guilty at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday, June 26 of the murder of Rene Graham following a two-week trial.

The shooting took place in Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park in Ladbroke Grove, at North Kensington, shortly after 7.20pm on Sunday, July 21, during a family music event.

Boumzough was identified in CCTV footage approaching a children’s play area before firing a single fatal shot into Rene’s chest.

Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who led the investigation, said: "Following Rene’s senseless murder, we made a direct plea to both the Ladbroke Grove community and those who had attended the event where he lost his life."

Boumzough then chased a second victim and attempted to fire again, but the gun jammed and he fled the scene.

He was arrested on September 2, 2025, and charged the following day with murder and attempted murder.

In the recording, he said: "don’t you hate it when your ting jams? I was prepared to take soul, but Allah had a different plan."

DCI Foxwell praised the public’s help in securing the conviction.

She said: "While only a small number of people came forward, I would like to thank those individuals who provided statements and supported the investigation, including attending court, who refused to allow a dangerous individual such as Boumzough to live amongst them."

She described Rene’s murder as a "tragic act of violence carried out at a popular family-friendly community event," and said investigators faced challenges obtaining information early on.

Boumzough will be sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday, July 3.
