A woman has admitted killing her paralysed sister through gross negligence, reports London Now.

Michelle Neill, 55, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of her younger sister, Kelly Neill, 48, who died from sepsis in October 2022.

Kelly was partially paralysed following a stroke in 2018 and was under Michelle’s care at their family home in Deptford, south London, as reported by our sister title London Now.

On October 20, 2022, Michelle called an ambulance and paramedics found Kelly in "unsanitary conditions" on the living room floor.

She was described as distressed, non-verbal, and groaning.

Kelly was taken to St Thomas’ Hospital, where she died three days later on October 23.

A post-mortem examination found that she died from sepsis due to multiple skin ulcers and the previous stroke.

The court heard that Michelle became Kelly’s sole carer after the death of their mother.

Michelle unlawfully killed her sister by breaching her duty of care, having failed to summon help by way of medical assistance for her.

The victim was found living in what was described as "toxic" conditions.

Following her guilty plea, Judge Richard Marks KC adjourned sentencing to allow for the preparation of a report.

Michelle Neill remains on bail.

The sentencing will be held at the Old Bailey on a date to be fixed.
