A woman has been taken to hospital with facial injuries after reports of an assault in Sutton.
Metropolitan Police officers were alerted to the incident on Cedar Road at 5.50am yesterday (July 9).
At the scene, a woman in her 40s was found suffering injuries to her face.
She was taken to hospital where the wounds were confirmed to be neither life-threatening nor-life changing.
A 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.
He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
A Met spokesperson said: "At 05:50hrs on Thursday, 9 July, police were called to reports of an assault on Cedar Road, Sutton.
"Officers arrived on scene to find a woman, in her 40s, with facial injuries. The London Ambulance Service took the woman to hospital where her injuries were deemed non-life threatening nor life changing.
"A man, aged 53, has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He has since been released on bail as enquiries continue."
