A man has been arrested on suspicion of modern slavery after reports of a roof collapse in Islington.

Police were called to Newington Green yesterday (July 25) at 4:33pm to reports of the roof collapsing.

Firefighters and ambulances were also at the scene.

A 45-year-old man was treated before being taken to hospital, where his injuries have since been deemed not life-threatening nor life-changing.

No other injuries were reported, the Metropolitan Police said.

Officers then established that two other men had been living at the premises.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "The condition of the building raised concerns for their welfare and a 26-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of modern slavery.

"He was taken to police custody, where he remains."
