A man has died in a mass stabbing incident and dozens of people have been evacuated from their homes due to multiple fires after a horrific weekend of major emergencies across London.
Emergency services were swamped with calls of six major incidents on Saturday (July 25).
This only includes incidents that London Now is aware of.
Six men arrested after man dies and four others injured in Clapham
A 22-year-old man died after he self-presented with stab wound injuries at a south London hospital on July 25 at 4.37am.
Officers were informed about the knife incident and it was established that the incident took place on Clapham High Street.
Four other men also attended with stab wounds.
Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
The four men - three aged 22 and one 24 - have since been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Two further men, aged 23 and 27, were also arrested at the hospital on suspicion of murder.
The road was closed both ways from Clapham Manor Street to Tremadoc Road.
Bus routes - including the 50, 88, 155, 322, and 345 - were diverted.
Man arrested after stabbing in Chingford
Police were called to Hall Lane yesterday (July 25) at 3.24pm to reports of a knife attack.
The victim was found near the corner of Harbet Road and Shadbolt Avenue.
The 28-year-old man was treated at the scene before he was taken to hospital, where his injuries have been assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing.
According to the Metropolitan Police, the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.
But a 24-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and was taken to police custody, where he remains.
Man arrested on suspicion of modern slavery after roof collapse
Police were called to Newington Green on Saturday (July 25) at 4.33pm to reports of the roof collapsing.
Firefighters and ambulances were also at the scene.
A 45-year-old man was treated before being taken to hospital, where his injuries have since been deemed not life-threatening nor life-changing.
No other injuries were reported, the Metropolitan Police said.
Officers then established that two other men had been living at the premises.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "The condition of the building raised concerns for their welfare and a 26-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of modern slavery.
"He was taken to police custody, where he remains."
Around 35 residents displaced by major fire at residential block in Mitcham
Firefighters were at Belgrave Walk in Mitcham following a blaze at a residential block with three floors on Saturday (July 25) from 3.10pm.
All three floors and the roof of the building were alight as it spread into the roof spaces of the building.
The fire was eventually under control by 5.53pm.
Carshalton resident Mark Potts said: "I live in Carshalton and could see the smoke from my garden.
"I went for a walk thinking it was a grass fire on the field behind my house.
"I feel sorry for the families that have lost their homes today and hope that they will all be okay.”
Around 35 people evacuated after 10 hectares damaged in Rainham fire
Around 35 people were evacuated after ten hectares of grassland were damaged in a Rainham fire.
The grass fire spread near Ingrebourne Hill yesterday (July 25) at 5.02pm.
Residents on Palmerston Road were evacuated as a precaution while the blaze spread.
Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were at the scene and the fire was eventually under control by 8.56pm.
There were no reports of any injuries, the London Fire Brigade said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Car explodes into ball of flames after reports of alleged fight
Police are investigating reports of an alleged fight before a crash that caused a car to explode into a ball of flames in Welling.
The crash involving a car and a motorbike took place at Welling High Street yesterday (July 25) at 9.19pm.
It resulted in the car exploding, with a plume of smoke spotted around the area.
The fire was later extinguished, with the car destroyed.
No injuries were reported from the incident.
However, officers are investigating allegations of a fight prior to the crash.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "Police are investigating reports of an altercation between those involved prior to the collision.
"Enquiries remain ongoing and no arrests have been made at this stage."
