A Met Police officer who drove a BMW dangerously in central London said he was doing it to cheer a friend up.
At around 2am on August 23 last year, PC Akbar Arabi was off-duty when officers saw a BMW being driven erratically along Conway Street, Westminster, near Regent's Park.
The vehicle was seen performing wheel spins, weaving across the road and making a sudden U-turn.
After he was stopped with three passengers inside, PC Arabi admitted his driving was inappropriate and said he had been trying to "give [his friend] a thrill" to cheer her up.
An accelerated misconduct hearing on July 24 found that PC Arabi falsely claimed he was insured to drive the car.

Commander Katie Lilburn found breaches of honesty and integrity and discreditable conduct proven.
She concluded that his behaviour was criminal in nature and caused high harm to public confidence in policing.
PC Arabi was dismissed without notice and was added to the College of Policing barred list.
