Kingston-upon-Thames has just welcomed its newest hang-out spot for young people - children to teens to young adults.

Urban Fun: bright, dynamic, memorable.

All ages are welcome in the refurbished, modernised versions from their origins in the 1970s and 80s.

With a larger range of arcade games and interactive scenarios, Urban Fun could be said to be a large upscale for the considered lack of activities (that are done with enthusiasm) in Kingston currently.

It uses an alternative system to typical arcades, which is what arguably makes it so interesting and attractive, introducing Oyster card-style ‘tickets’ that allow you to top up credits to play the countless games, making the centre easy and enjoyable to navigate.

Compared to the typical activity in Kingston, Urban Fun is not very busy, so anyone visiting can feel free to have a go at whatever they like – ensuring they have enough credits, of course.

There are several different areas, like Mary Poppins’ (far, far bigger on the inside) bag: a bar to take a break from the stress of winning countless arcade machines, car races with vehicles that move and blow wind on your face like a proper race, and an extremely sassy dance machine.

The staff are friendly and open to any questions asked from newcomers, creating an amiable atmosphere with little judgement, opposing most places in the area where the intense busyness can be overwhelming.

Certainly being a place of active curiosity, Urban Fun should be high on the list of local bucket lists.

The music is trendy and catchy, friends are bound to have a laugh, and if you win a car race, you get free next rounds; what is not to like?
